Representative Mike Carter is the current State Representative for House District 29 in Tennessee. Elected in 2012, Representative Carter has proven to be an outspoken champion of constitutional liberties and fiscal responsibility, and a warrior against government overreach. Over the legislative session of 2016, Representative Carter passed a bill to end forced annexation giving citizens a right to choose whether they be annexed or not by surrounding municipalities. Within the house, Mike serves as the vice chair of the House Civil Justice Committee and is a member of the House Ethics Committee, House Finance, Ways and Means Committee, and House Civil Justice Subcommittee.
A graduate of Cecil Humphrey School of Law at the University of Memphis in 1978, Mike practiced law and served as Judge in the General Sessions Court of Hamilton County before being elected to the Tennessee State House.
Mike has been married for 42 years to Joan Carter, and together they have two sons, Stephen and Tim.
